The FWOA is proudly offering members and guest the opportunity to purchase one, or more, Memorial Coins in Memory of Special Agent Thomas P. Cloherty. All proceeds from the sale of the Memorial Coins will go directly to the Cloherty family. The cost of the Memorial Coin is $20.00/each + shipping (See shipping rates below). To purchase a Memorial Coin, please mail (1) a note specifying the item(s) and quantity purchased, and (2) a check or money order, made payable to "FWOA" to: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Special Agent Thomas Cloherty was stationed in East Orland, Maine, and had been with the Service for approximately 18 months. Tommy died of cardiac arrest December 8, 2005 while on duty participating in the Agency's health and fitness program. He was running at Schoodic Point, Acadia National Park in Maine. Tom is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine, and his five young children. Tommy was born in New York City, and grew up in South Salem, NY. He attended Loyola College in Maryland, graduating in 1991. Tommy had a love of the sea, and served as first officer on the tall ships Pride of Baltimore II and Amistad and as Captain of the Pioneer and the Clipper City. Soon after, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. He served aboard the U.S.C.G. Cutter Chase out of San Diego and also served in Pittsburgh, PA before achieving another dream, becoming a Fish and Wildlife Service Special Agent. Tommy was hired as a Special Agent with the Service in 2004. Tommy will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and a part of the wildlife enforcement family, as well as for the constant smile on his face, his enthusiasm for his work, and his zest for life.
